New baby classes building a community one bosie at a time

We’re thrilled to shine a light on Bosies Baby Classes, a brand-new class provider for the local parenting community in Aberdeen.

Founded by local mum-of-two Claire, Bosies is all about connection, cuddles and creating a calm, welcoming space for parents and their little ones.

We recently caught up with Claire to hear more about what inspired her to start Bosies, what families can expect from her classes and her vision for Bosies in the year ahead.

Tell us more about yourself and what inspired you to create Bosies?

“I’m a mummy to two little boys - Max, who is 5 and Jack, who is 2. I worked in hospitality for 18 years and absolutely loved it. However, having two little ones completely changed my priorities and I felt I couldn't give as much time and energy to my career as I previously did.

“I lived in Mallorca for two years, which was a fantastic experience, but being so far away from family had its challenges - I do miss the nice weather though!

“When I was growing up, my only wish was to have children. I was never particularly career-driven, but I feel like Bosies has come to me at the perfect time. I worked for another company for 11 months before deciding to take the leap and create something of my own.”

What made you choose the name?

“Trying to find a name that suited me was very tricky! I was on a weekend away for my sister's graduation and we spent the entire train journey from Aberdeen to York brainstorming ideas - but I still couldn’t decide on the perfect name.

“The Scottish word ‘Bosies’ means ‘cuddles’ and I think there’s something so special about keeping that Scottish connection while tying it to one of the best feelings of being a mummy - getting a cuddle from your little one.”

Tell us about the classes you will be offering?

“I’ll be offering baby classes, with the potential to expand to toddler sessions in the future. The classes are tailored to babies aged 0-12 months and parents will absolutely be involved too - I need them there to drown out my awful singing voice!

“When coming to Bosies, you can expect a warm, calming atmosphere and an open space to meet other parents who are at a similar stage of parenthood, all while enjoying fun rhymes and songs.”

Where will your classes be located and how long will they last?

“Classes will be 45 minutes long and we have four different locations. On Mondays, you can find us in the city centre at Fountain Hall Church Centre; on Tuesdays, we will be at Banchory Ternan East Church; on Wednesdays, the classes are held in Stonehaven at Scallywags Cafe and on Thursdays, we’re at Cults Kirk Centre.

What do you hope attendees take away from each session?

“I hope parents leave a Bosies baby class feeling more connected, confident and supported. I want them to know they’re not alone during this stage - through the sleepless nights and all. For the babies, I hope to provide a safe, nurturing space that supports their development through songs, gentle movements and bonding.”

What are you most excited about for this new venture?

“I’m really excited to bring parents together and give them an escape where they can offload the good, the bad and the ugly in a fun but calming surrounding.”

How important do you think community is when entering motherhood?

“It’s extremely important. My first little boy was born three weeks before lockdown in 2020, and although I didn’t feel like I missed out at the time, having another child in 2023 really showed me the importance of having your village - whether that’s parents, other family members or a new group of like-minded mums and dads going through the same experiences.”

What’s your vision for Bosies in the next year?

“My main goal is to create a community and give parents a safe space to share what’s on their minds. Looking to the future, I would love to expand if bookings allow, possibly adding in a toddler class here and there, and maybe even find a new venue in another location.”
