First stop: Middleton Farm
Axel loves Middleton Farm and we go back throughout the year. There’s strawberry picking in summer, the pumpkin patch in autumn and Christmas trees in winter, so there’s usually something different happening each season.
For little ones, there’s a huge inflatable bouncing pillow, bouncy castles, sand pits and tractor rides, as well as farm animals - including the Highland cows. They put a lot of effort into the seasonal activities and always make it exciting for the children.
There are usually food vans on site too, with ice cream in summer and hot chocolate in winter. You can also pick up a bottle of the farm’s own “bee juice”. There’s plenty of parking, which is always a bonus when you’re visiting with young children.
I’m also hoping their planned farm shop and indoor soft play will open in the future!
Next stop: Pumpkin Spice Craft Café
After the farm, we like to head to Pumpkin Spice Craft Café for ceramic painting and something to eat. They serve cakes, coffee and lunch, and often run painting workshops that you can book in advance.
It’s quite a small café, so I’d recommend booking if you want to be sure of a table. That said, when it’s just been Axel and me, we’ve always managed to get seated.
