When I launched The Wee Hive back in November, the goal was simple: to make it easier for families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to discover what’s on locally.

As a mum, I knew how hard it could be to find brilliant classes, events and activities without scrolling through endless social media posts, relying on word of mouth or asking the same questions in group chats again and again.

The Wee Hive was created to bring that information together in one place, helping local families discover more of what’s happening right on their doorstep.

And now, the next chapter is here.

Introducing The Wee Hive Directory

Families already use The Wee Hive to discover brilliant local classes and events. Now, with the launch of The Wee Hive Directory, you can discover even more for family life in the North East.

The directory brings together local businesses, places and services for families - from cafés, shops and local experiences to gifts, family-focused services, content creators and more.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration for a fun day out, finding support for your family, treating someone you love or simply wanting to discover somewhere new, The Wee Hive is here to help you find more of what’s on your doorstep.

Helping families discover more locally

This directory is about more than just listing businesses. It’s about helping families make plans, create memories, mark milestones, find support and discover local places they might not have known about otherwise.

Sometimes you need a birthday party idea. Sometimes you’re looking for new clothes or accessories as your little one grows. Sometimes you want somewhere new to go at the weekend, a thoughtful gift, a class, an event or support as you navigate pregnancy, parenting or family life.

The Wee Hive Directory is here to make those moments easier to find.

Launching with a brilliant group of local businesses

We’re launching the directory with 22 brilliant local businesses and content creators from across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. And this is just the beginning.

These founding businesses are part of helping us build something genuinely useful for families in the North East. They represent exactly what The Wee Hive is all about: local discovery, community, support and making family life feel that little bit better.

Over time, the directory will hopefully continue to grow with even more places, services and businesses that local families will love to know about.
